Rail/HS2 - investment to create capacity for the UK rail network

Picture
Over the last several years the amount of rail traffic has increased substantially both in terms of passenger miles and freight carried. At the current rate significant sections of the UK rail network – primarily the West Coast Mainline will reach capacity within the next decade. Coupled with sub-standard rolling stock in the North of England and the conclusion is that major investment is required.

Roads - what are your local road priorities?

Maybe not as glamorous as rail or aviation but vitally important for strong economies. Is the road network being ignored by decision makers? Are our roads the poor relation of transport spending?

Aviation - international connectivity

The UK has for too long struggled to form a cohesive national aviation policy that adequately allows for increases in aviation traffic. Recent debate has, once again, centred around Heathrow and the concerns of regional airports have seemingly been put to one side yet again.

Energy

Chamber Members recently voted the future of energy supplies as the biggest issue of concern. With both costs and supply of existing energy sources under scrutiny and serious questions being asked about what UK energy policy exactly is we believe a longer term strategic plan is required.

Digital Connectivity - poor connections? We want to know.

Just as vital as transport infrastructure is the ease to which businesses can access high speed broadband connections. The UK has for some years been seen to be lagging behind other areas of the world in developing and building a super fast broadband network.
